The mission of the Society, founded in 1985, is to offer compassionate palliative care for those who need it and support to their families and friends.


Through its membership in the provincial and national hospice palliative care associations (BCHPCA & CHPCA), appearances before legislative committees and its participation in research Projects, the Society advocates for a palliative issues such as pain management, education of health field personnel and more consistent coordinated care.


The Society’s enviable track record in palliative care has been saluted locally, provincially and nationally:


Winner of the Castlegar & District Chamber of Commerce community service award, 2011;


Recipient of the BC Hospice Palliative Care Association & Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem Award, 2009, 2012, 2014;


National runner-up in the prestigious Donner Canadian Foundation Awards for service to seniors, 2012.
